Baby Lambs Bring Spring to Marsh Farm

Spring has arrived early at Marsh Farm Country Park, with the birth of this year’s first baby lambs.

On Saturday 16 January, farm staff worked hard to welcome three mule lambs into the world, and we were delighted to see a set of twins amongst the flock.

You will be able to view the new born lambs on Saturday 13 February, when the farm reopens for the 2010 season.

Marsh Farm’s lambing season, which runs from February to April, sees around 500 lambs born every year.

The farm is particularly famous for its mule lamb, the popular teddybear-like Southdowns, and the Border Leicester, easily identified by its floppy ears.
Lambing season peaks in March, when the farm runs special lambing weekends to give visitors the chance to immerse themselves in farm life and witness live births.

From 6th to 28th of March, families can watch the hectic activity in the lambing sheds and enjoy a range of demonstrations by the farm’s resident shepherd.
